NEW for 2020 is our Foiling Dinghy. It’s a purpose-made boat for foiling and she’s as easy to sail as a Laser - so there’s no need to be brave!
If you are staying at our Nautica Bay Beach club and you’re an intermediate level sailor then you will be offered the opportunity to try foiling as part of our free Foiling Taster sessions. Foiling is the new-wave in sailing and they enable boats to go faster. Much faster! The feeling of flying over the water on a dinghy with a hydrofoil is an incredible experience. So if you’re a competent intermediate sailor, (Level 2 RYA), you will be ready to try foiling with our expert team in Porto Heli this summer.
If you are an Intermediate sailor (RYA Level 2 standard) then you’ll have the chance to try foiling in our Foiling Dinghy this summer. If, after your taster, you would like to learn more then you may book a ‘First Flight’ course from our resort team, locally. Or pre-book with our UK sales team.
Our free taster is a 1 to 1.5 hour session designed to give you a taster of this fantastic sport. You will start with some onshore theory and how to set up the kit, before heading out on the water in RIB boats with an instructor in a small group of 3-4 pupils.
You will be connected by two-way radios so your instructor can lead you through the steps of taking your very first flight. Which is guaranteed to make you grin!
Sailing this beauty is a one-man job. No trapezing, just hiking. She’s as easy to sail as a Laser and so there’s no need to be brave. So you need very little experience.
Her minimum lift-off wind speed is just 8 knots which makes her far easier to fly than many other foiling boats. Her top speed is about 25 knots +; but we’ll be taking it a lot steadier when you’re learning.
This is the first course in the RYA SailFoil scheme, providing you with a basic introduction to foiling. During this course, you should achieve your first flight and learn the basic theory of foiling. This exciting course will give you your first sensations to flying the Foiling Dinghy. The session lasts for about 4 hours and is run by our expert foiling instructors. You will start with some onshore theory and learning how to set-up and tune the kit, before heading out on the water with your instructor, who will be in a support RIB nearby. You will be connected by two-way radios so your instructor can lead you through the steps of your first flight.
We like to run the course in groups of 3-4, so pupils can rest in the support RIB while others take a turn. This way, the group can share-the-knowledge and learn faster.
This 12-hour course is generally run over two days. This course is designed to increase your confidence and ability to handle a foil and maintain control. You will start to feel more confident in techniques to steer and sustain foiling effectively. Assumed ability on starting this course will be of First Flights or above.
Bookable in resort, but do express an interest in the course on booking or by using your ‘My Holiday’ client area.
Pre-booking in advance is advisable. We have limited space with only two RS Aeros adapted for use with Glidefree foils at our Porto Heli centre with a dedicated RIB boat and instructor.
Ask our sales team for availability when booking your holiday or select this Extra when booking your holiday online. Alternatively, you can book on arrival in resort, but availability cannot be guaranteed!
