This one day course is designed for anyone who has some sailing experience but would like to improve their boat handling skills and close quarter manoeuvres.
It is a particularly useful course for anyone chartering a yacht (with us) in week two of Stay Sail holiday. Among many things, we will cover stern to mooring, coming along side and anchoring. It’s a popular add-on course - normally done on a Wednesday or a Friday - for guests staying at our Surf Hotel in Vassiliki before they embark upon a flotilla or bareboat during their second week.
We will cover the sailing techniques and manoeuvres on a yacht under sail both as crew and helm, including slipping and coming alongside, some basic yacht handling under power, sailing theory and basic safety including personal safety at sea.
There will be focussed sessions on the all-important tasks of stern-to mooring and anchoring with our chief RYA instructor.
The course will run during one day of the week at our Beach Club in Vassiliki, generally on a Wednesday or a Friday and can be pre-booked before you depart
It is assumed that most of these techniques (with the exception of Med’ style mooring and anchoring) will be familiar to pupils, so the day can be spent refreshing rather than learning from scratch.
There is a lot to cover in a day and some topics may be fast-tracked to allow more time in other areas.
