If you’ve ever thought that skippering your own yacht is out of your reach, then think again! As a beginner - even with very little experience - we can get you trained up in a week and ready to skipper your own yacht on week two of an Ocean Elements flotilla.
A popular way to get trained, is as a liveaboard on our tuition yacht as you cruise the Ionian with our Yacht Master instructor. You can book a cabin or hire the tuition yacht and instructor privately for your group which can work out to be quite economical, even if you are only 2 persons.
The yacht can take up to 5 pupils and we can teach different skills together, like youth Sailing, Competent Crew and Day Skipper - which is ideal if the family want to learn together.
We train all our beginner skippers to the Day Skipper qualification. To join this course you will need to have done a little sailing before, (100 miles). So if you have been an active crew member on a previous flotilla, you will be eligible to join.
You will also need to take the RYA Day Skipper Theory before you arrive which can be done with our E-Learning package from the comfort of your own home in about 40 hours.
If you have never sailed before then we recommend you try our two-week Day Skipper fast track which brings together the Competent Crew and Day Skipper into one complete fast track course.
